The President of the Federation of Lebanese Chambers and Head of Economic Organizations, Mohammed Choucair, lauded the deep brotherly and historical relations between Lebanon and Algeria, noting that Algeria has always stood by Lebanon at various levels.
The speech of Mr. Choucair came during a Lebanese-Algerian Economic Meeting held at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, with the participation of the Algerian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ahmed Bouziane, and the Lebanese Ambassador to Algeria, Mohamed Mahmoud Hassan, as well as the Head of the Lebanese-Algerian Business Council, Wissam Ariss.
Mr. Choucair emphasized "the need to develop a clear vision of the steps required towards enhancing the bilateral economic relations, especially in terms of trade exchanges." He proposed a list of 50 Lebanese and other products, including 50 Algerian goods to exempt from customs duties, given that they increased annually, stressing on "the need to take appropriate actions to facilitate the work of businessmen in both countries, and that commensurate with the depth of brotherly relations between them."
