Morocco Expects a Growth of 3.2 percent

Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance Mohamed Benshaboun said, “The government is seeking through the budget for next year, to achieve an economic growth of 3.2 percent, while continuing to control inflation at less than 2 percent, and to ensure the stability of financial balances by limiting the deficit by 3.3 percent”.
Benshaboun explained, "Issues related to high oil and gas prices, and urgent social programs will have a direct impact on financial balances, which requires that measures be taken at the level of resource mobilization, and the control of expenditure and the creation of mechanisms to reduce the burden of the general budget at the level of investment”. “Given the decline in foreign cooperation resources, the treasury deficit for 2018 will rise to 3.8 percent,” he said.
He said: “The pillars of the Moroccan national economy are solid and must be consolidated, especially by restoring confidence to the citizen, through the provision of social services to preserve dignity, and enable citizens to have decent work and income, that will strengthen the will and ability to contribute to the development of the country.”
