The Moroccan High Commissioner for Planning (Ministry of Planning) expected the Moroccan economy to grow by 2.9% in the fourth quarter of 2018, compared to 4.4% in the same period last year.
The Moroccan Commissioner expected the Moroccan economy to continue to improve during the fourth quarter of 2018, boosted by an increase in agricultural value added by 3.6%. The value added of the non-agricultural activities sectors was expected to improve by about 2.8% in annual terms during the fourth quarter of 2018, at the same pace as the previous quarter.
The Commission attributed the improvement in plant production to the increase in the production of autumn crops, which will benefit from the improvement of reserves of dam water, while the production of livestock will witness a moderate development, affected by reduced production of poultry meat. The added value of non-agricultural activities is expected to develop under international conditions characterized by increased trade and financial pressures, as well as by the social, economic and political disturbances identified by some emerging countries.
