Kabariti: We call on Europe to confront the commercial war by going to our Arab markets

  • 27 June 2018

The President of the Union of Arab Chambers, Senator Nael Raja Al-Kabariti, pointed out that "trade exchange between the Arab world and Germany, which we pride ourselves on, is increasing and sometimes decreasing" stating “Our ambition is to build together productive investment relations based on strengthening the pillars of the economy, using the advanced German expertise in the field of science, education and knowledge, and here lies the true partnership with friends of history, present and future, Federal Germany. "
The speech came at the opening of the 21st Arab-German Economic Forum in Berlin, in the presence of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Federal Minister of Economy and Energy Peter Altmaier and a host of Arab and German ministers, officials and businessmen.
"We extend our hand to our friends to build a generation armed with knowledge and modern science, and to cooperate together in the field of scientific research, which provides a parallel development for our peoples that provides a better life for the whole world," he said.
Mr. Kabariti said: "When we look at the global economic events, we read that a trade war is looming between Europe and the United States because of the taxes and protectionist policies imposed by the United States, and the consequent imposition of corresponding fees whereas the biggest loser will be the world economy. And here, I call the European countries to head to our Arab region, which enjoys high investment advantages and constitutes a large market that includes not only the Arab countries, but also extends to our trading partners in Africa which creates a new tripartite strategic alliance that diversifies from the trade and business directions and opens the door widely for the German Investments directly in the Arab and African countries. "
He continued: " We must also realize that the world today is using new ways and mechanisms of energy and trade different from its predecessors and that it is rapidly turning to alternative energy, digital economy and e-commerce.
This leads us to think seriously about developing alternative energy and exploiting its natural resources in our countries and setting up an Arab-European electronic platform led by Germany in order to form a common electronic trade market includes Europe and the Arab World which moves our economic and trade relations to a wider range of cooperation, work, investment and networking between the two sides. "
Senator Kabariti called for "developing a strategy of cooperation for development and production of future energy, clean energy, alternative energy, digital development and industrial intelligence, and to form a team capable of challenging the new giant world economy led by China and India. "
