The Board of Directors of the Council of Saudi Chambers has elected Dr. Sami Bin Abdullah Al-Abidi as Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers by acclamation, and Mounir Bin Saad and Abdullah Bin Marzouq Al Adim as Vice-Chairmen.
The election of Dr. Sami was during an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Directors of the Council of Saudi Chambers held at the Council headquarters in Riyadh to elect a new President of the Council with the participation of heads and representatives of 28 Chambers of Commerce in the Kingdom.
The elections were held for the posts of the President and his deputies under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade and Investment and the Legal Department of the Council.
The Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers Dr. Sami al-Abidi clarified in his first statement after taking office that he and his colleagues in the chambers of commerce and the Council will work to develop the Saudi business sector and the economic and investment sector in general; pointing out that "the 28 chambers of commerce in different cities and regions of the Kingdom have a major role in the enhancement of the private sector and the development of the country and this should be the work plan especially as the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, which emphasized the role of the private sector in shaping the course of the Kingdom's economy by raising its contribution from 40% currently to 65% of GDP By 2030, where the private sector represented by small and medium enterprises contributes 20% of the Kingdom's GDP, which is very small percentage compared to the developed countries, where it may reach to 70% in addition to their significant contributions to job creation. "
Al-Abidi thanked the former Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, the current Saudi Minister of Labor Ahmed Al-Rajhi for all his work and success in the last period for the Council. Al-Abidi also thanked all the heads and representatives of the chambers of commerce for their confidence, assuring that the Council and the Chambers will work under one system, in the spirit of one team.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Sami Al-Obaidi is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Taif Chamber, which for the first time in its history is chairing the Council of Saudi Chambers.
