Choucair Meets UAE Officials & Discusses Ways to Boost Economic Cooperation

A Lebanese economic delegation headed by the President of the Federation of Lebanese Chambers and the Head of the Lebanese Economic Authorities, Mohammed Choucair visited the United Arab Emirates where he held talks with UAE officials to develop and strengthen economic relations between Lebanon and UAE.

The delegation visited the headquarters of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry where they met with the Chamber's Vice President Ibrahim Mahmoud and the board of directors of the chamber where they discussed means of enhancing cooperation between the private sector of both countries.

Choucair stressed the keenness of the Lebanese private sector to strengthen cooperation with UAE, in order to present the new opportunities in Lebanon, which are the projects resulting from the decisions of the “Cedar Conference” that deal with the development of infrastructure in Lebanon and the oil and gas projects.Drawing the attention to Lebanon’s decision to partnering between the public and the private sectors which allows the entry of Lebanese and UAE companies into alliances to invest in these projects. "

The delegation also met with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash where Choucair ensured the depth of the brotherly relations between the two countries and the tight cooperation between the Lebanese and the Emirati private sectors, which we hope will deepen and develop in the future, whether in Lebanon or UAE or outside of them."

Form his end, Gargash pointed out that "Lebanon, which we love, is the bridge that brings together the Arabs and strengthens the relations between East and West. Lebanon, which is the most suitable place for the stability of funds and investments, Lebanon's sectarian diversity," pointing out at "The importance of the Lebanese private sector which is keen to the country development and stability for being the voice of the balanced mind in the interest of stability by creating jobs and moving the wheel of the economy."

The Lebanese delegation met with UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, who stressed "The deep brotherly relations between UAE and Lebanon," praising the Lebanese private sector and the Lebanese people and their distinctive role in the UAE, pointing out the tourism capabilities that Lebanon enjoys considering that there is a possibility to find mechanisms of cooperation and coordination in this field between the two countries. He also stressed on the need to increase inter-trade exchange, where it is necessary to identify some sectors and goods through which we can raise trade exchange. Choucair said: "Lebanon will have a major role to play in the reconstruction of Syria; in this regard, it is necessary to activate communication between Lebanese and Emirati companies to create alliances to enter into these different opportunities."

The Lebanese delegation also visited the Emirates Council of Investors abroad where they met with the Secretary General of the Council Jamal Saif Al-Jarwan, to discuss the investment opportunities available in both countries and abroad, and the laws that sponsor investment in Lebanon and UAE.

The Lebanese economic delegation also held an important meeting with UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obaid bin Humaid Al Tayer, where Choucair discussed the various issues discussed with UAE officials and the issues agreed upon.
