On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce will hold a forum on “Energy, Water and Food Security”, where speakers will discuss how countries in the Middle East and North Africa region can enhance their efforts in food security, improve the management of scarce water resources and adopt green energy, leading to an increased focus on innovation in these sectors vital to economic development and sustainability.

 

The convening of this forum comes after the fragility of global supply chains was revealed in the wake of the pandemic and was exacerbated by the long war in Europe. In order to mitigate future unrest, agricultural self-sufficiency, energy supply and water security will contribute to increasing strategic priorities. Especially since there is growing recognition of the potential solutions offered by technology and innovation in all these vital interrelated areas, with new opportunities emerging for agricultural technology and vertical farming.
