A report issued by the Statistical Center for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) revealed that the total remittances of expatriate workers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries reached $131.5 billion by the end of 2023. Remittances from expatriate workers in the GCC countries are the highest globally, followed by remittances from the United States.

Total remittances from expatriate workers in the GCC countries by the end of 2023 decreased by about half a billion US dollars compared to 2022, or 0.4 percent, following significant increases in 2021 and 2022, by 9.2 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively. The share of these remittances in the Gulf's GDP (at current prices) declined from 8.1 percent in 2020 to 6 percent in 2022, rising slightly in 2023 to remain at 6.2 percent.
