EU Trade Surplus with World Countries Rises to €150.1 Billion

The trade surplus of the 27 EU countries with the countries of the world increased to 150.1 billion euros in 2024, compared to a surplus of 34.4 billion euros in 2023, and an exceptional deficit of 436 billion euros in 2022 due to high energy prices.

According to Eurostat data, exports of goods from EU countries to the rest of the world recorded 2.58 trillion euros in 2024, an increase of 1.1 percent compared to 2023, while imports amounted to 2.43 trillion euros, down 3.5 percent compared to 2023. Inter-EU merchandise trade recorded €4.02 trillion in 2024, down 2.2 percent compared to 2023.
