French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou revealed that the government has lowered its economic growth forecast for 2025 to 0.9 percent, instead of 1.1 percent.
The high level of debt in France is the government's biggest concern, Bayrou said, warning that it poses a threat to the French social model. He said that this religion is a sword hanging over our country and our social model. We have many reasons to worry, but the most prominent are our excessive debts.
He pointed out that the government aims to achieve a public deficit of 5.4 percent of GDP in 2025. Stressing the government's commitment to the goal of reaching a deficit of 3 percent of GDP by 2029.
