The World Bank has lowered its economic growth forecast for the Middle East and North Africa region to 2.7 percent in 2025 from 3.4 percent in its January forecast, and to 3.7 percent in 2026 from 4.1 percent in its previous projection.

The report lowered its growth forecast for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to 3.2 percent in 2025 from 3.3 percent, 4.5 percent in 2026 (from 4.6 percent), and 4.8 percent in 2027. In oil-importing countries, growth is expected to rise to 3.6 percent in 2025, 3.9 percent in 2026, and 4.3 percent in 2027, largely due to stronger private consumption amid falling inflation, a recovery in agricultural production, and a presumed moderation of geopolitical tensions.
