Non-governmental foreign currency deposits in Egypt's banks have risen by $6.4 billion in nine months since the Egyptian pound was liberalized in March 2024.
According to the latest data from the Central Bank of Egypt, foreign currency deposit balances reached $ 57.1 billion by the end of last November, compared to $ 50.7 billion by the end of March 2024. Egyptian banks received foreign savings of $500 million in November alone, bringing foreign currency deposit balances from $56.6 billion at the end of October to $57.1 billion dollars by the end of last November.
The increase in foreign savings at local banks hit its highest rate since the beginning of the year in September, at $1.38 billion.
