The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) in the UAE has launched the updated fourth version of the National Frequency Plan, including the allocation of 600 MHz and 6 GHz frequency bands for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) services, making the UAE one of the first countries in the world to take the initiative to allocate these bands to operators (sixth generation internet).
The plan comes in the context of the practical implementation of the outcomes of the World Radio communication Conference (WRC), which was held in Dubai, UAE, in late 2023 with the participation of all countries of the world, according to the UAE's Al Bayan newspaper. The actual operation of these new frequency bands is expected to start between 2025 and 2026, which adds a quantum leap to secure the infrastructure of smart cities based on the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and the rest of the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which require high frequencies and speeds in the field of data transfer and exchange.
