The head of the Supreme Committee for Tax Reform in Iraq, Abdul Hussein Al-Anbaki, revealed that the Iraqi government seeks to accelerate the treatment of distortions of the tax system, hoping to make it appropriate in achieving tax justice while attracting investors.

He unveiled a three-pronged plan in this regard, with facilitation measures taken for the tax administration, as well as exempting previous fines for many segments in order to restore the confidence of taxpayers." The main objective of tax reform is to create an easy, transparent, business-friendly and attractive system for investors," al-Anbaki said. Iraq is among many Arab countries that face great challenges in improving and developing their tax systems to be in line with reform programs, due to successive crises that have strained their budgets.
