Official data showed that the British economy returned to growth at the beginning of 2024, after entering a recession caused by the mixed performance of its sectors in the second half of 2023.

British Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt stressed, “Despite the difficulty of the past few years, the latest data showed that we are making progress in the development of the economy.” Pointing out “Britain recorded a growth in its GDP by 0.2 percent in January monthly, supported by the recovery of the retail and home construction sectors, after a decline of 0.1 percent last December.”
