The International Monetary Fund raised its forecast for UK economic growth this year and urged adherence to plans to reduce public borrowing.

Growth this year is now expected to reach 1.2 percent, slightly higher than the 1.1 percent it forecast in April, before rising to 1.4 percent in 2026, despite challenges from US tariffs, which are expected to reduce annual output by 0.3 percent. The IMF noted that these revisions reflect the strong performance of GDP in the first quarter, highlighting the resilience of the UK economy despite the complex external environment.
