Britain's annual consumer price inflation fell to a lower-than-expected 4.6 percent in October, after reaching 6.7 percent in September. The increase in consumer prices was the smallest since October 2021.
Core inflation, which excludes energy and food prices, fell to 5.7 percent from 6.1 percent, while inflation in the services sector also fell more than the central bank's forecast to 6.6 percent from 6.9 percent.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has promised to halve the price hike this year ahead of an expected election in 2024.
