US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stressed, "There are no signs that the US economy is going through a recession," warning that the failure of Congress to pass legislation that keeps the government running threatens to slow the economy. "I don't see any signs that the economy is at risk of deflation," she said, noting, "the U.S. labor market remains strong as well and inflation is falling."
"There is absolutely no reason to shut down, and any situation that could cause a loss of momentum is a risk that we don't need at this point."
