Deposits with Moroccan banks at the end of January 2022 recorded an annual increase of 5.6 percent to reach 1050.9 billion dirhams (105 billion dollars). Household deposits, according to the Moroccan Central Bank, amounted to 781.6 billion dirhams ($78.1 billion), an annual increase of 3.3 percent, with 185.9 billion dirhams ($18.5 billion) in the possession of Moroccans living abroad. Private contracting deposits increased by 10.3 percent to 165.1 billion dirhams (16.5 billion dollars).
The volume of bank loans amounted to about 965.5 billion dirhams (96.5 billion dollars) by the end of January 2022, which represents an annual increase of 3.4 percent. According to the dashboard related to bank loans and deposits, issued by Moroccan Bank, this amount is distributed between non-financial agents with a value of 842.3 billion dirhams (a growth of 3.3 percent), and financial agents with a value of 123.2 billion dirhams, a growth of 4 percent. The annual increase of 3.6 percent in loans granted to private non-financial institutions covers increases of 6.2 percent in financial facilities, and 3.7 percent in equipment loans, in addition to a decrease of 3.7 percent in real estate loans.
According to the Central Bank, access to finances during the fourth quarter of 2021 was normal for 90 percent of industrial contracts.
