The Jordanian government has launched the third package of the economic stimulus plan, entitled raising the efficiency of the public sector and improving the standard of living, through raising wages for all public sector employees, the military sector and retirees.
In this regard, Omar Razzaz, the Jordanian Prime Minister pointed out that "These rises are the first in 10 years, where the need was urgent to review the system of the Civil Service Bureau, to reach a system that achieves justice and development goals of Jordan," explaining that "there are direct effects touched by the citizen through the previous packages announced in October and November, respectively.” Razzaz revealed the government's intention to launch later packages specialized in service sectors, such as education, health, and transport.
Razzaz said that "there are direct effects of the implementation of the previous packages, which saw the reduction of fees in some sales, transportation and exit, but the third package is the most direct result, which will benefit 700 thousand Jordanian citizens between retired and civil servant, public and military sectors. Moreover, this package includes measures aimed at improving the government performance towards citizens and employers.”
