UAC Secretary General Meets with Paolo Rampino the Vice President of JIACC

The Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, received at the premises of the Union, Mr. Paolo Rampino, the Vice-President of the Joint Italian-Arab Chamber of Commerce, where they discussed the role played by the JIACC in deepening the economic cooperation between Italy and the Arab world. They also discussed the prospects of future cooperation at all levels and levels, to serve the common interests.

Mr. Rampino informed the Secretary-General about the context of the meetings he had held during his tour in a number of Arab countries, particularly in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and in Lebanon. Pointing out that "there were discussions with the officials about the role that Italy could play in the context of the reconstruction phase especially in Syria & Iraq," stressing that "the Italian private sector has not cut its relationship with the Syrian side and this gives him the preference to be a key partner in the reconstruction phase."

Rampino ensured that "there are many Arab countries that have achieved great progress over the past years and decades, especially the UAE, which is one of the most advanced economies, not only in the Arab region, but also regionally and internationally." He also pointed to the excellent relations between the UAE and Italy, adding that Italy's participation in the exhibition "Expo 2020" will be distinguished through a large pavilion at the exhibition", hoping that the cooperation between the two sides will reach a better level, especially in light of the enormous potential possessed by Italy and the Arab world.

He also revealed an Italian approach to create a Silk Road on the Mediterranean coast, similar to the Silk Road, which China has been implementing since 2013, considering that there is a long Mediterranean coastline linking Italy with many Arab countries, therefore, if this vital project is launched, there will be great economic benefits for both sides.

"The investment fields and opportunities are numerous, but we must now look for new projects that mimic the accelerating technological developments and implement them as quickly as possible if we are to move to a new phase of meaningful cooperation," he said.
