The UAE ranked second in the world in the prevalence of the “Participatory Economy” after China for the period 2015-2018.
More than 4 million people, representing 54 % of the UAE's population, have subscribed to online platforms and have been consumed by 5 million people, or 61 % of the population, according to a recent Lloyd's study. The country's markets attracted the giants of the global economy to participate as they were able to take care of many local market workers and independent service offerings.
Delivery services (non-food), food delivery, vehicle rental, taxi services, rental of electrical appliances, rental of car parking areas, rental of additional rooms, unit leasing, party lending and collective financing are the most prominent cooperative economy services in the UAE.
The study, which focuses on six major markets - Germany, France, UAE, United Kingdom, United States & China - found that more than a quarter of the population has purchased services or rented properties from other individuals through participatory platforms in the last three years.
