Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy expected tourism revenues to reach around $17.8 billion in 2025, with total tourist arrivals by year-end ranging between 18 and 18.7 million visitors.
He revealed that Egypt aims in 2026 to achieve growth in revenues and visitor numbers of between 5 and 7 percent, noting that average spending has increased from around $94 by rates ranging between 30 and 40 percent.
Minister Fathy added that government efforts have succeeded in recovering around 30,000 smuggled antiquities over the past ten years, with continued work to retrieve more artifacts in the coming period.
