Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb revealed that the tourism sector’s contribution to GDP has risen from 3 percent in 2019 to 5 percent in 2025, with a target of 10 percent by 2030.

He confirmed that “the Saudi government plays a fundamental role by providing initial funding for tourism sites, after which the private sector builds hotels and tourism experiences,” noting that “the Diriyah Gate Project is a clear example of the success of this partnership between the government and private sector.”

He added that “the Public Investment Fund developed the entire infrastructure in the Red Sea region, including the airport and roads,” emphasizing that “while the global tourism sector is growing at 3.5 percent, its growth in Saudi Arabia reaches 6 percent.”
