Record Increase in Egyptians’ Dollar Deposits

Foreign-currency deposits held by non-government entities in Egyptian banks increased by more than USD 5.4 billion during the first nine months of the current year, reaching about USD 63.57 billion at the end of last September, compared to USD 58.16 billion in December 2024.

Data issued by the Central Bank of Egypt showed that banks received nearly half a billion dollars in foreign savings during August alone, raising foreign-currency deposit balances from USD 63.077 billion in August to USD 63.57 billion in September.

The volume of foreign-currency deposits rose by about USD 1.9 billion, reaching USD 15.64 billion at the end of last September, compared to USD 13.78 billion at the end of last year.
