Intra-Arab Commodity Trade Rises by 16.6 Percent

The Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (Dhaman) reported that intra-Arab trade in goods (the average of exports and imports) increased by 16.6 percent, exceeding $250 billion, representing 9 percent of total Arab merchandise trade in 2024. Geographically, this trade was concentrated in the Gulf countries, Egypt, and Iraq, which accounted for more than 88 percent of the total.

According to Dhaman, the value of Arab trade in goods and services grew by 4.5 percent to surpass $3.6 trillion in 2024. Trade in goods alone rose by more than 5 percent to $2.8 trillion, driven by a 0.3 percent increase in exports to $1.5 trillion. Imports rose by 11 percent to exceed $1.3 trillion, causing the merchandise trade surplus to decline by 43 percent to $167 billion in 2024.
