Taiwan’s unemployment rate rose in August to its highest level in four months.
According to the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics, the unemployment rate reached 3.35 percent last month, compared to 3.33 percent the previous month and 3.38 percent in August of last year.
The number of unemployed persons in Taiwan increased to 403,000 in August, compared to 400,000 in the previous month. Data also showed that the total number of employed persons rose by about 3,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 11.641 million workers, and by about 28,000 compared to the same period last year.
