Oil prices rose on Wednesday after Israel targeted leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in Qatar, and after U.S. President Donald Trump called on Europe to impose tariffs on buyers of Russian oil.

Brent crude futures rose by 35 cents, or 0.53%, to $66.74 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures increased by 36 cents, or 0.57%, to $62.99 per barrel.

Prices had already climbed 0.6% at Tuesday’s settlement after Israel announced it had attacked Hamas leaders in Doha—a move the Qatari Prime Minister considered a threat to obstruct peace talks between Hamas and Israel.
