Unemployment in Morocco Drops Significantly to 12.8%

Morocco’s High Commission for Planning revealed that the unemployment rate dropped to 12.8 percent during Q2 2025, compared to 13.1 percent during the same period last year.

The Moroccan labor market created around 132,000 new jobs during the three months ending in June, while economic indicators showed gradual improvement.

The number of unemployed individuals declined by 38,000, bringing the total number of unemployed to 1.595 million nationwide. The unemployment rate in urban areas fell from 16.7 percent to 16.4 percent, and in rural areas from 6.7 percent to 6.2 percent. However, youth unemployment (ages 15–24) remained high, standing at 35.8 percent.
