Egypt's non-oil private sector grew in January, posting its best performance in more than four years, supported by increased production and sales.

The S&P Global Purchasing Managers' Index rose to 50.7, compared to 48.1 in December, reflecting an improvement in the sector's health at the start of 2025. A reading above 50 indicates growth, while a reading below it means contraction.

This is the highest level since November 2020, as the local market recovery and easing cost pressures boosted sales, although uncertainty persists about the sustainability of this improvement and its impact on business and employment outlook.
