Egypt's Core Inflation Hits 25% Year-On-Year

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) revealed today that core inflation fell to 25% year-on-year in September from 25.1% in August.

Annual inflation in Egyptian cities fell to 25.9 percent in September, down from 26.2 percent in August.

Data from Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed that annual consumer price inflation in Egyptian cities rose to 26.4% in September from 26.2% in August. On a monthly basis, prices rose 2.1%.

Food prices rose 2.6 percent after a 1.8 percent increase in August. Food prices in September jumped 27.7 percent from a year ago.
