Oil Falls on Rising U.S. Crude Inventories and Easing Middle East Tensions

Oil prices fell on Wednesday, on estimates showing increased U.S. crude inventories and expectations that tensions in the Middle East will ease after a tour of mediators in the region.

Brent crude futures fell nine cents, or 0.1 percent, to $77.11 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fell 12 cents, or 0.2 percent, to $73.05 a barrel. U.S. crude oil inventories rose last week by about 347,000 barrels, according to the American Petroleum Institute. Gasoline inventories fell by 1.043 million barrels and distillate by 2.247 million barrels.
