The governor of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiolina, revealed that Russia is considering legalizing the use of cryptocurrencies for international payments in light of the ongoing financial pressures caused by Western sanctions.
She explained that the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, will consider a law that allows international payments via cryptocurrencies. "The State Duma is considering a law that allows settlements in cryptocurrencies under a pilot system. The Central Bank of Russia is also looking to move money across borders using cryptocurrencies, as cryptocurrency-based payments will take place before the end of 2024."
