Eurostat revealed that economic growth in the gross domestic product of the euro area during the second quarter of 2024 increased by 0.3 percent compared to the first quarter of this year.
According to Eurostat, this rise confirms the recovery of growth in the euro area despite the recording of a contraction of the German economy. He pointed out that the growth came contrary to expectations of a slowdown in economic growth by 0.2 percent between April and June.
In the first quarter of this year, the Eurozone posted gross domestic product growth of 0.3 percent, surpassing the recession since the second half of last year. In contrast, there is a wide variation in the growth rates recorded by each of the 20 Eurozone countries that complicate the ECB's task of setting a common policy for its euro countries.
