Fitch Raises Forecasts for Tourism's Contribution to Gulf Economies

Fitch Ratings expects the tourism sector's contribution to the GCC's GDP to rise by 161.5 percent on a cumulative basis to more than $340 billion by 2030, constituting ten percent of its economies.

According to the agency's report, the tourism sector contributed about $ 130 billion to the economies of the region during the past year.

The Saudi Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khatib, pointed out that "the contribution of the travel and tourism sector to the GDP in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries reached 7.8 percent by the end of 2022."
