Khaled Hanafi at the Arab-Japanese Conference in Tokyo: The Private Sector Represents a Fundamental Pillar for the Development of Our Economies and a Major Driver of Innovation and Progress

The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, during his speech at the opening of the economic and commercial conference between the public and private sectors from the Arab and Japanese sides, which is being held within the activities of the fifth session of the Arab-Japanese Economic Forum, with the participation of His Excellency the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ken Saito, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, His Excellency Dr. Saleh Ali Hamid Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the University Arab countries, in addition to a massive presence from the Arab and Japanese sides, confirmed  that “The holding of this conference in this delicate historical circumstance represents a strong testimony to the depth of the established economic and trade relations between the Arab world and Japan. Relationships built on mutual respect, fruitful cooperation, and a common pursuit of sustainable development and prosperity for both sides.”

He considered that “holding the conference amid the participation of an elite group of senior officials and decision-makers, from the public and private sectors, from the Arab and Japanese sides, gives this conference exceptional importance, and provides an ideal platform for exchanging experiences and opinions, and discussing ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two sides, in a way that contributes to Achieving Arab-Japanese economic integration and enhancing the comprehensive development process in both regions.”

The Secretary-General of the Union noted that “the challenges facing the world’s economies today require collective action and solidarity from all of us, in order to find innovative solutions that contribute to achieving sustainable economic growth, creating new job opportunities for young people, and improving the standard of living of peoples. In this context, the Arab and Japanese private sector represents a fundamental pillar for the development of our economies and a major driver of innovation and progress.”

He said: “We firmly believe in the ability of this sector to play a pivotal role in enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the Arab world and Japan, by establishing strategic partnerships that contribute to the transfer of technology, the exchange of knowledge, and the development of joint projects in various fields.”

He stressed that "the Union of Arab Chambers places strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the Arab world and Japan as one of its top priorities, and we are working hard to provide all means to serve business owners, overcome the obstacles they face, and encourage joint investment between the two sides."
