Data prepared by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development in Kuwait in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) showed that Kuwait is among the most generous countries in the world in social spending, with a value of about 13.88 billion dinars for the fiscal year 2023/2024, constituting about 52.83 percent of the total budget estimated at 26.27 billion.
The volume of public social spending during the fiscal year 2023/2024 constituted about 28.3 percent of GDP, which is a very advanced percentage compared to countries with high levels of public social spending as a percentage of GDP, as it reached in Denmark, according to the latest figures of UN-ESCWA, to 28.3 percent, which is the same level as Kuwait, while it reached in Germany 25.9 percent, Sweden at 25.5 percent, and Norway at 25.3 percent, and thus Kuwait is considered Among the world's most generous in social spending.
