Egyptian Tourism Minister Ahmed Issa revealed that the number of tourists arriving in Egypt rose to a record high of 14.9 million visitors in 2023. He pointed out that the last quarter of last year witnessed a growth in the number of tourists by 8 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year to 3.6 million tourists, which is 600,000 tourists less than the target, due to the war in Gaza.
Minister Issa pointed out "the previous record for the volume of inbound tourism to Egypt was in 2010 at 14.73 million tourists," pointing to "the efforts made to add new tourist destinations and activities and increase the number of hotel rooms of various categories. This is in addition to the efforts exerted in cooperation with the concerned authorities regarding air transport. As well as providing more facilities regarding obtaining tourist visas".
