Kuwait's Foreign Reserves Increased by 6.58 percent

Official data showed that Kuwait's foreign reserve assets in January 2023 increased by 6.58 percent year-on-year.

According to the monthly report of the Central Bank of Kuwait, foreign currency reserves rose to 14.811 billion dinars ($ 48.4 billion) in January, compared to 13.896 billion dinars ($ 45.4 billion) at the end of the same month of 2022.

On a monthly basis, Kuwait's foreign reserves increased by 0.22 percent, compared to 14.779 billion dinars ($48.272 billion) in December 2022.

Kuwait's reserves included about 13.15 billion dinars ($42.9 billion) in deposits and currencies. It also includes KD 1.34 billion ($4.37 billion) of Kuwait's Special Drawing Rights (SDR) with the IMF, as well as KD 234.7 million ($766.6 million) with the IMF."

Kuwait's foreign reserves include gold (79 tons calculated at book value since purchase) of about KD 31.7 million ($104.1 million). Foreign reserves do not include the external assets of the General Investment Authority (sovereign fund), which exceed $ 750 billion, according to the latest data from the Institute of Sovereign Wealth Funds.
