Qatar's domestic Product Increased by 4.3 percent

Qatar's gross domestic product jumped by 4.3 percent to about 175 billion riyals ($48 billion) in the third quarter of 2022, compared to the same period of 2021, which amounted to 167.7 billion riyals. While it increased by 3.6 percent on a quarterly basis, compared to the audit data for the second quarter of 2022, in which the gross domestic product recorded a level of 168.879 billion riyals.

The data of the Planning and Statistics Authority revealed that the Qatari economy achieved a real growth rate according to constant prices of 4.3 percent during the third quarter on an annual basis. While Qatar's gross domestic product at current prices increased by 30.7 percent on an annual basis, to more than 228.4 billion riyals in the third quarter. It grew by 5.5 percent to 216.4 billion riyals, compared to estimates for the second quarter of last year.

During the first nine months of the year 2022, the State of Qatar’s budget achieved a strong financial surplus that exceeded 77 billion riyals, compared to 4.9 billion riyals during the same period in 2021. This brings to mind the high levels of surpluses achieved in the fiscal years 2012 (77 billion riyals), 2013 (106.3 billion riyals), and 2014 (108.6 billion riyals).
