Data from the High Commission for Planning in Morocco revealed that the inflation rate rose to 8.3 percent at the end of September, on an annual basis. This increase came with an increase in food prices by 14.7 percent and the cost of transportation by 12.9 percent.
According to figures from the High Commission for Planning alone, the inflation rate in Morocco has reached its highest level since 1995.
The household confidence index declined, during the third quarter of 2022, to its lowest level since the start of the research in 2008. According to the commission, the household confidence index moved to 47.4 points instead of 50.1 points recorded during the previous quarter and 65.5 points recorded during the same quarter last year. The delegate explained the deterioration of the household confidence index during this quarter by the decline in all its component indicators, whether compared with the previous quarter or with the same season of the previous year.
