A Prominent Presence in the Bahrain-Brazil Forum & Signing MOUs to Develop Economic Relations

The President of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, praised the distinguished economic relations that exist between Bahrain and the Federal Republic of Brazil, which are based on trust and understanding between them, expressing his country’s aspiration to develop and strengthen various aspects of economic cooperation with Bahrain in the mutual trade sector in especially in the mining, water and food sectors. He also expressed an interest in creating cooperation and partnership relations with Bahrain and discussing the available economic and investment cooperation possibilities and opportunities, affirming the many incentives and facilities in Brazil's investment environment and an open economy, looking forward to achieving economic returns during the discussion of partnership and commercial cooperation opportunities and attracting investments, especially in infrastructure and tourism, hoping that the bilateral meetings would be a good opportunity for a promising economic and investment partnership between Bahrain and Brazil.

This came during the opening of the Bahrain-Brazil Forum, organized by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which was held in the presence of President Jair Bolsonaro, and was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Issam Khalaf, Minister of Transport and Communications Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, President of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Osmar Chohfa, Secretary General of the Chamber Tamer Mansour, President of the Chamber’s International Office in Dubai Rafael Solimo, and Regional Adviser For the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Yemen and Iraq in the Chamber, Shaheen Ali Shaheen, and a wide elite of businessmen from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Federal Republic of Brazil, as well as high-ranking personalities.

For his part, the Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, President of the GCC Chambers, Sameer Abdullah Nass, applauded the efforts made by the Kingdom of Bahrain to develop the Bahraini-Brazilian relations, and praised the existing bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Federal Republic of Brazil, considering that Brazil represented Bahrain’s largest import partner for the first time in the second quarter of 2021, noting the presence of many promising sectors and non-limited investment opportunities for cooperation between Brazil and Bahrain.

Nass affirmed that the Chamber plays a complementary role to the Bahraini government and supports the government's efforts to develop relations with the Republic of Brazil.

The agenda of the forum included a presentation of investment opportunities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the strategic directions of the Bahrain Chamber in light of the readings of trade growth in the economic scene. This was followed by holding parallel sub-discussion sessions within the main themes, the first of which was cooperation in the field of food security, transport, logistics and tourism, and the second axis was the discussion of partnership in digital technology, financial services, entrepreneurship and innovation.

The forum between business owners from both sides discussed promising opportunities for cooperation and investment in the food security, transport, logistics and tourism sectors, as well as partnership in digital technology, financial services, entrepreneurship and innovation between the two parties.

Two memoranda of understanding were signed to contribute to the development of cooperation and economic and trade relations between the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, and another memorandum of understanding between the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
