Khaled Hanafy: The Conference on Investment in Food Security Opens the Door to the New Sudan to Attract Investments & Business Owners

During his visit to the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, accompanied by Raouf Abou Zaki, the CEO of the Lebanese Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group, held prominent talks with a number of Sudanese ministers and officials. He also met with the leaders of the Sudanese Employers' Federation and the Specialized Chambers, in preparation for the convening of the Arab Food Security Investment Conference, which will be hosted by Sudan on the 14th of next November, based on the decision of the meetings of the UAC BOD held in Dubai last June.

Hanafy explained during his prominent meetings in the capital, Khartoum, that the conference on investment in food security aims to announce the new Sudan in the field of economy and investment and to attract Arab business owners and investors from all over the world. He also emphasized that he called on during his visit to Sudan and meetings with ministers in the economic sector, on encouraging to promote investment in Sudan.

He continued: We have seen a real desire for change in Sudan through the ongoing economic reforms such as liberalizing product prices and formulating new laws for investment and partnership between the public and private sector and other economic amendments, in addition to Sudan’s definition of its economic orientation to stimulate and encourage the private sector to work, and these are all factors that contribute to attracting the Arab private sector to investment in Sudan and establishing partnerships with the Sudanese private sector in specific areas and projects as a priority and a clear vision for the future of the new Sudan in the fields of energy, infrastructure, information and communication technology, agriculture and mining.

The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers indicated that the aim of the conference is not only for Sudan to be a destination for investors or a market for products, but for Sudan, through the Union of Arab Chambers, with its partnerships and umbrella extending outside the Arab region, to be a hub from which projects are launched in light of Arab and foreign strategic partnerships to all over the world.

Hanafy stated: We have seen real national leaders who have a real desire for change and practical leaders who deal with a specific reality and seek change for the better through cooperation with the private sector, underlining that this vision is supportive, encouraging and reassuring for the Arab private sector to invest in Sudan.

It is worth noting that Dr. Khaled Hanafy, the Secretary-General of the UAC, and Hashim Salah Mattar, the President of the Sudanese Businessmen & Employers Federation, held a press conference in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, in the presence of the CEO of the Lebanese Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group Raouf Abou Zaki, where they announced the co-organization of the work on the Conference on Investment in Food Security in Khartoum, in partnership with the Sudanese Businessmen & Employers Federation and the Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group, on the 14th of next November.

The conference comes under the auspices of the League of Arab States and the participation and attendance of a number of ministers of finance, economy and investment in Arab countries and a crowd of businessmen, investors and major companies from Arab countries and various countries of the world.
