The International Monetary Fund has expected that the Moroccan economy will grow by 4.5 percent in 2021, and by about 3.9 percent in 2022.
According to the IMF, in its regional forecasts, that one year after the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, the road to economic recovery in 2021 may be long and different from one country to another.
The report concluded that the prospects will vary greatly according to the course of the pandemic, the effectiveness of vaccination campaigns, and basic vulnerabilities, as well as the impact of tourism and sectors that require intensive contact, as well as the margin of maneuver and government interventions.
In this regard, the director of the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia Department at the IMF, Jihad Azour, affirmed that "the Moroccan economy is one of the most dynamic economies to adapt to the restrictions as well as opportunities associated with the Corona pandemic crisis," noting that "the Kingdom of Morocco is now one of the most advanced countries in the field of vaccination, which will be a decisive factor in achieving recovery at the global level," considering that "thanks to the measures taken by the Moroccan government last year, whether in terms of health, tax or monetary, Morocco has succeeded in returning to the path of growth."
