The 49th Ordinary Session of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action was chaired by HE Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, through video conference technology, where specialized Arab organizations and joint Arab action institutions reviewed their vision on how to face the repercussions of the emerging Coronavirus pandemic on Arab economies and societies, in addition to a number of important topics related to coordination of cooperation and interaction between institutions of joint Arab action.
Aboul Gheit opened the work of the committee with a speech in which he stressed the importance of the positive role played by the specialized Arab labor organizations and institutions in fronting the difficulties and challenges facing Arab economies and societies, as a result of the outbreak of the emerging Coronavirus pandemic.
The Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action agreed to the proposal of Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit to present the Arab Development Action Shield this year to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in view of the significant development efforts and achievements he is leading inside Egypt. The Higher Coordination Committee agreed to meet more than once annually to discuss all issues related to enhancing coordination and cooperation between organizations and institutions of joint Arab action, and members of the High Coordination Committee welcomed the initiative of the Secretary-General to form a working group composed of members of the committee specialized in managing the Corona crisis in all its dimensions, however, the full committee will discuss the recommendations of this team during its next meeting.
