Tourists Arrivals to Tunisia Rises up by 14 percent

The Tunisian Ministry of Tourism revealed that the number of tourists arriving Tunisia since the beginning of this year until November 20th is 8.3 million tourists, marking an increase of at least 14 percent, compared with the same period last year.

The financial revenues from the tourism sector exceeded the limits of 5 billion Tunisian dinars (about 1.6 billion US dollars). In turn, it witnessed a huge jump rising by 38.3 percent, while foreign exchange earnings increased during the same period, both from the euro by 29.6 percent, or the dollar, where incomes rose by at least 22.3 percent.

The number of tourists coming to Tunisia from the Maghreb countries, especially Algeria and Libya, exceeded about half of the arrivals to the Tunisian destination, about 4.1 million tourists, an increase of 16.4%. The number of Algerians arriving Tunisia is estimated at 2.5 million, in addition to about 1.3 million Libyan tourists. In the same context, the number of European tourists was about one third, which is about 2.6 million tourists. This traditional and important tourist destination for the Tunisian tourism sector recorded an increase of 16.2%.
