Following a meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Cabinet approved the Union's budget for the year 2020 with a total of 61 billion dirhams and without deficit.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in a series of tweets on his official Twitter account pointed out that "one-third of the budget was allocated to the social development sector and one third to government affairs and the rest to infrastructure, economic resources, and living benefits," clarifying that "2020 will be the beginning of a new development decade".
He also revealed that "the size of the UAE space sector is 22 billion dirhams, and employs 1500 employees in fifty companies, including 2 of the largest satellite communications companies in the world", he continued saying that "the UAE has 16 satellites, and we have begun to manufacture satellites locally, and we have a spaceship will be launched to Mars within eight months."
The Cabinet also approved a government fund to support education to strengthen partnerships with the private sector and education entrepreneurs and to provide additional financial resources for development programs in the national education sector.
