Data from the Central Bank of Jordan showed that tourism revenues in the first half of this year rose by 8.3 percent reaching 1.9 billion dinars ($2.6 billion).

The central bank attributed the rise mainly to the increase in the number of tourists coming to the country in that period by 5.6 compared to the same period last year to reach about 2.5 million visitors.

It is clear that the recovery of the tourism sector is beginning to emerge after the crisis in the region, which has been exacerbated in recent years, thanks to a new strategy announced by the Ministry of Tourism since the beginning of the year aimed at attracting new markets and diversifying the revenues of this vital sector.

These funds will give Jordan the opportunity to breathe, amid the crises it faces in implementing its economic reform program.

Tourism is a strategic contributor to Jordan's hard currency reserves, along with the value of commodity and service exports, grants, loans and foreign aid.
