A report by Kuwait's Central Statistical Bureau showed a GDP growth of 2.6 percent at constant prices during the first quarter of 2019, compared to a year earlier.

According to the data, the oil sector grew 1.3% in the first quarter, while the non-oil sector grew by 4.1%. OPEC-led production cuts have negatively impacted oil-related growth among Gulf energy producers this year.

The IMF expects Kuwait's economy to grow 2.5% this year, up from 1.7% in 2018.

On the other hand, the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has announced that it has submitted its tender for applications for a license to provide MVNO services with the host operator, allowing the entry of a fourth operator by default.

According to Eng. Salim Muthib Al-Ozainah, CITRA Chairman and CEO: "the provision of virtual mobile services is an addition to the telecommunications sector in Kuwait and aims to achieve the objectives set forth in the Telecommunications Act, which seeks to create the right environment for fair competition and encourage it in all areas of telecommunications".
