Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, issued a decree setting the minimum wage for employees and workers of state agencies and public economic bodies as of July 1, 2019.
The decision stipulates in its first article that the minimum wage for the highest level state employees is LE 7000, followed by the high grade employees with a minimum wage of and the general director’s wage is LE 4000.
With regard to the first class, the minimum will be LE 3500, the second is LE 3000, the third is LE 2600, the fourth is LE 2400, the fifth is LE 2200, and the sixth is 2000 Egyptian pounds.
The decision requires that the monthly minimum stipulated in the first paragraph of this Article shall be increased after a period of 3 years in a single job grade or when promotion to a higher level of employment within the same class with a bonus of LE 100.
According to article 2 of the Prime Minister's decision, the minimum wage for employees who are in violation of the provisions of the Civil Service Law is calculated on the basis of the average gross wage, which is payable on a monthly basis, including salary, supplementary pay and insurance charges.
